Underground Railroad Education Center

Hello my name is Patricia Greene I have lived here in Albany New York all my life the 62 years I've heard about the Underground Railroad I never visited it seeing the photos of the house and the kids and adults that have visited their inspired me to maked point to visit with my Grandkids so they can learn about the great individuals that came to that House to escape slavery.

This museum tells a story about American history that needs to be told. Steven Meyers was a tenant at this location. He and others helped slaves pass through this house to freedom. You can stand in rooms that these people met in and discussed their transition. An inspiring location. Note that the building and museum is in the process of being reconstructed. Expect to see rooms that need extensive repairs. Please look beyond this and imagine what it looked like with the people in it nearly 200 years ago.

So exciting that this exists! I would love to explore it more. I came by at 6:30 on a Friday and it says it’s open until eight but the front door was telling me to use the back door and the back door was by all appearances locked, so I’m not sure how to get in or if it’s just not open at those times, but would love to explore it at a later time.

This was a very interesting find. The articles and information this house holds is amazing. I can't wait to come back once they have added everything they want for the education programs.
