Galano Club

I'm very surprised. I reached out to them for help and advice because the police in racist prejudice Forsyth county won't help me. I've called them 5 times they just say ur being paranoid and won't even come out to see if I was a nut case. ETC. and you know what the presidents response was? I'm sorry to read this unfortunately we can't help if it's not on galano property. After telling them no one would help me, they didn't even care that a fellow gay was scared to death and didn't know what to do....I know it's a aa club house but for God sakes I thought we were looking out for each other. But I guess not

Great place if you want to be hit on by creepy old guys. Look out for "Scruffy Top." He preys on all the newcomers. Also, make sure you're white, male, and of a certain socioeconomic class, or you're not welcome.

I've attended a few meetings closer to my home, but never really found one that "clicked" for me. The Galano Club is out of the way, but I really enjoyed going to a meeting there. Everyone was very welcoming and seemed to really enjoy being there -- at some of the groups I've been to, it seems like people come out of obligation, and I definitely didn't get that vibe here. Hope I can catch more meetings sometime soon!

I walked in to my first meeting and was welcomed with open arms.. It was emotional for me to even walk in, but the quickly made me feel like I was in the right place for communal support.

Welcoming to all seeking recovery. In theory, it's a gay clubhouse, but a lot of friends and I go there when we want to hide out from the Triangle Club. They have about every imaginable type of twelvestep meeting there, including my favorite, the We Agnostics meeting. It's not necessary to believe in God in order to stay sober. Some of us think the God people are delusional, but we *are* in the bible belt. Also of interest is the candle light meeting upstairs at 10pm every night. Galano Club is on Dutch Valley Road, just off Monroe Drive, right behind the veterinarian office. Great parking, handicap accessible.
