In the pantheon of perfect saunas, each has its own calling card. Lützow Sauna is compact, well maintained, and rests its laurels on old‑world charm. Tucked inside a modern office building, its decor is a simple vintage theme. The clientele is largely German, there for the relaxation of a traditional sauna experience. It is no ones first time at the sauna here. There is a pool at the perfect cool temperature, two Finnish saunas, a steam room, and of course, a cold plunge. On the hour, they run infusions in the hotter of the two dry rooms: everyone packs in like sardines and it gets properly hot, just like my favorite banyas around the world. Sebastian, who maned the entrance, poured the beers, and led the infusions, was an excellent host. I was genuinely impressed by how smoothly he ran the entire spa on his own. If anything, I’d only wish for a couple of simple food options so I can justify staying longer on days with longer operating hours. Because I’ll absolutely be back soon, this is easily Berlin’s best sauna.
