Amazing selection, prompt replies to emails, friendly staff and great prices. Basically the book shop that everyone deserves to have close to home

My girlfriend and I were here today and had a really good time exploring the selection! We appreciated finding a trans-friendly bookstore that is also attentive to the sphere of kinks and diverse representation. Kudos to the employee who went out of her way to give us info and flyers about the lgbtq+ scene in Berlin! However, I believe this bookstore could do so much more in terms of queer women representation! The selection we found was a little limited especially when compared with the one targeted specifically at gay men. This is particularly visible in the area dedicated to films, unfortunately :( films like “Blue is the Warmest Colour” are definitely important in queer cinema, but when the selection is so limited, it is sad that one spot is taken up by a movie that is considered by a majority of queer women to be bad representation of both romantic and sexual wlw relationships. We felt really safe and at home at the store and in the neighbourhood, it is really one small improvement away from being an amazing spot for all queer people. So, we truly hope to see that improvement in the future (cause we’ll be back!) and wish you all the luck :D

Disappointing lack of diversity. Prinz Eisenherz may be known as the LGBTQ+ bookstore in Berlin, but it feels more like a gay men’s bookstore than a truly queer one. The space is clearly catered to cis white gay men — I barely found anything representing women, trans*, intersex, or POC queer experiences. The lesbian section was almost nonexistent, and the overall selection lacked intersectionality. It’s disheartening to see this in Berlin, where so many so-called “queer” spaces are already dominated by cis white gay men. A bookstore like this could and should do better — it could be a place of discovery and inclusion for all queer people, not just one demographic. I love books and wanted so desperately to love this place, but it left me feeling invisible. Even its location, surrounded by “men-only” bars and clubs, reflects the same narrow idea of what queer culture looks like. As the only bookstore in Berlin clearly dedicated to queerness, it’s your responsibility to do better — to reflect the full spectrum of our beautiful community. Sexism and the lack of intersectionality in the gay world are real, and it’s disappointing to see them alive in a space that should represent us all…

can’t believe today is the first time that I made it to this bookshop! Has a great selection of queer books as well as an exhibition space. Not sure how I left empty handed!

Very adorable queer bookstore in a LGBTQ+ friendly neighbourhood. They do have a range of English books but not that many. However there were so many queer books and a lot of translated ones which made me very happy! The staff seemed friendly and the atmosphere is very relax🙌🏽
