New Orleans Queer Underground Tour

Exceptional, an absolute standout in terms of historical tours in the French Quarter. Quinn’s tours are accessible for anyone- straight and queer alike who are curious to know the rich history of gender/sexuality and sex work in the French Quarter. Her tour offers plenty of references to verified accounts of queer history in the district, but the brilliance of Quinn’s archival work is the effort and care that she’s taken to sift through the accounts and stories that have survived from before gender/sexual identity were codified the way they are today. She presents accounts of notorious people, places and events, preserving the context of the norms of the day in which they occurred while simultaneously inviting curiosity about potential representations of queerness. A consummate professional, Quinn manages to deliver the raunchy details with the couth of a gallerist; it feels a little like Howard Stern via Terry Gross. And through it all, you can sense her love of her people and of the city. 10/10.

I highly recommend the New Orleans Queer Underground History Tour! The tour was both incredibly entertaining and informative. Even as a New Orleans resident, I learned so much about the city's rich and often overlooked queer history. Quinn is a fantastic guide! She is friendly, engaging, and happy to answer questions throughout the tour. Her depth of knowledge as a historian really shined through, and she brought the stories and historical context to life in a way that was both educational and memorable. Whether you're visiting New Orleans or have lived here for years, this tour offers fascinating insights and a fresh perspective on the city.

This was such a fun, informative, and humorous tour. Quinn was extremely knowledgeable about queer history in New Orleans and beyond. She was also able to answer a lot of sometimes-obscure questions about New Orleans history and even contemporary politics. The two hours flew by and the bar where we met (and made a halftime pit stop at for boozy refills) was a pretty great spot. Five stars all the way!

We went on Quinn’s Queer Underground tour today and highly recommend it. Her expertise and ease with which she relays New Orlean’s fascinating queer history is something not to be missed. She’s thoroughly researched and creates a friendly vibe throughout and could answer any question our group had. You can tell she’s done her work digging into records, newspapers, oral histories, and first hand interviews to get her talking points. As queer people, it was the perfect tour to round out our trip. Go take her tour!!!

Quinn led an amazing tour of the often unspoken and forgotten history of queer New Orleans - tracing varying eras of resistance and visibility from 1850 through present day. As someone who has spent years in New Orleans and is so grateful to the city it was special to learn more about this particular path of its history and tales of the real folk who have walked these streets and lived in community here. Really a tremendous experience that Quinn executes with raunchy humor and ultimately an earnest heart.
