Room is nice but not very clean, bathroom smelled like sewer, you can’t go to pool or beach club unless you buy their over priced soda or cocktails. You can not lay on the beach without being harassed constantly by locals trying to sell you everything from hats to cocaine…. It never stops .. even walking into the town…we tried to speak with management at hotel (Enrique) and was given the run around until we left. Evidently there is no manager or supervisor on duty on Sunday evenings or Monday mornings.
Overall, our stay at Alamar Resort Luxury Resort was just okay. There were definitely some positives, but also a few things that impacted the experience.
The room itself was very nice. The bed was extremely comfortable, the air conditioning worked great, and we appreciated having a relaxing place to come back to after being out during the day.
However, one of the biggest issues was construction noise. Before checking in, I specifically asked about this because I had seen it mentioned in prior reviews. The woman near the front desk (who was also selling timeshares) assured us that construction was complete. Unfortunately, we still heard hammering and building noise from below our unit during our stay. Thankfully it wasn’t super early in the morning, but it definitely had an impact.
We also felt that the service around the pool was geared mostly toward guests who were actively ordering drinks and spending money. When I asked for a glass of water by the pool, I was told there was no tap water available and that I would need to purchase bottled water. Even many luxury resorts (including in places like Las Vegas) will provide tap water upon request, so that was a bit surprising.
Additionally, we were approached many times about getting massages, which started to feel a little pushy after a while.
Overall, the property itself is nice and the rooms are comfortable, but the experience felt a bit more focused on upselling and spending than on overall guest comfort. It’s not a bad place to stay, but there are likely other options in Puerto Vallarta that provide a more balanced guest experience.
This place is amazing. All of the staff makes you feel welcomed and taken care of. Special mention to Pablo, Lalo and Emmanuel at the sky top rooftop restaurant.
As well special mention to the whole staff in the front desk. All of them are really kind and diligent.
Definitely I’ll be coming back to this hotel
22-February-2026 was an extraordinary day for the Staff at Almar Resort due to outside circumstances across the city. The entire staff of the hotel pulled together under challenging circumstances and executed with perfection. Notable mention goes to housekeeping, rooftop breakfast team, and WOW the pool bar team! There are so many names to include: Antonio, Pablo, Edwardo, Arturo, the ladies, and so many more. Apologies as there are more names I did not write down. All of these outstanding individuals delivered above and beyond today. We wish them and their families the very best.
PERSONALLY, The worst experience ever. Although this place is beautiful and honestly a fine place overall if you want to just go to PV, but I would have to also just add that I would sincerel caution you to understand that it's good enough...but it's so bad in reality. Very confusing, I know.
Firstly, you always feel like you're being talked about, and in many times, it was actually the case (being that I was an unsuspected, vulnerable, easy prey, white person who was happened to be a Spanish major and previous translator for Mexican Spanish specially, I can confirm they talk about you. I heard it first hand, and to no one's knowledge I was further confirming their words with the assistance of my live translating meta glasses that were discretly feeding me English translations in real time in my ear). The whole time you are being persistently sold on something/anything. Can't emphasize enough.
-There's no binder of wifi details, etc in your room like you'd hope and expect, instead right when you get off your flight and arrive at your hotel after your drive, you have to sit down for a presentation on a monitor with your luggage to learn about everything that could easily be summarized on a piece of paper(and they will undoubtedly pitch something for you to buy there as well, but Im sure at this point in your trip, you've noticed a theme). It certainly and absolutely was no White Lotus welcoming.
-Food is good, not great, but no problem. Predominantly fish food just fyi. Breakfast on roof was delicious and amazing view. ⚠️Caution to the hours of everything in the hotel as things seem to close very early.
-the FIRST FIVE STEPS you take out of the hotel, you WILL get asked by local solicitors for every and any drug, sexual massages, etc. That being said, I will fully admit you don't feel unsafe truthfully, but you just have to say no a thousand too many times, but it's really not a scary vibefor males or females I promise).
- Mind you, those very people are seemingly and most probably working with the police who can pull you over for anything to illegally and corruptly take your money for no reason. They have an operation, and again, it's still a safe feeling, but like also my phone was stolen and cops pull anyone aside to have personal illegal "requests?" for your money at the threat of being arrested(I hope you have translating glasses bc you won't understand what is happening and they'll make sure of it. Confusing, I know.
The staff was truly nice and accommodating and there's no incompetence as far as getting what you need when you need it. And I truly appreciate everyone from the bartenders, cleaning staff, management, etc. I just hated the constant feeling like I was having to buy more and more and more and moreeeeeeee. The constant and persist selling and the ' not free' additions to the vacation was just so irritating. Nothing is "all-inclusive" in any way and you better know how to haggle in Spanish.
