Maison historique Chevalier

From 1752, Maison Chevalier [Chevalier House] was the home of Jean-Baptiste Chevalier. At the time Chevalier owned it, it was directly on the waterfront of the St. Lawrence River, which made unloading his private shipping fleet right into the house’s underground vaults convenient. His quarters were upstairs. When we look at the house today, Chevalier’s portion is on the left as one stands in front. During one of the renovations, the two other houses were joined to his to create the French character of the buildings. Maison Chevalier was closed when we visited Old Quebec, as it is not open to the public, but the vaults are open by reservation to host meetings and exhibitions.

I walked by, not even realising this building was built by my ancestor. otherwise the area can be a bit busy with all the tourists (me included) running about.

The main house is office buildings so you can't go inside, you can just see the outside of the house.

Stunning architecture, a beautiful historic spot and great photo op in Old Quebec !

This place takes you back in history! Our tour guide dropped us for 30 minutes. It was way less to explore and get out of this place mesmerization
