Hey there, readers It's your boy Winston Chen here, and I'm stoked to share my latest adventure in the one-and-only Barcelona, Spain!
As someone who's all about community, culture, and a good ol' fashioned party, Barcelona has got it all! From its picturesque beaches to its vibrant nightlife, this city knows how to bring the heat.
Let me tell you, I've found myself lost in the winding streets of the Gothic Quarter, exploring hidden gems like La Boqueria Market – a must-visit for any foodie or culture vulture. And don't even get me started on the beaches! Barceloneta Beach is a personal fave, with its stunning views and lively atmosphere.
But what really gets my heart racing is the LGBTQ+ scene in Barcelona. This city has got a rich history of acceptance and inclusivity, dating back to the 1970s. Today, you can find everything from queer bars like Shams and The Village Inn to community centers like Casa de les Punxes – all welcoming spaces for our fabulous community.
And then, of course, there's Pride! Barcelona's Pride celebrations are a global phenomenon, attracting thousands of people each year. With its massive parade, live music performances, and non-stop party vibes, you won't want to miss it!
Now, I know what you're thinking: "Winston, what about the food?" Well, let me tell you, Barcelona is a culinary heaven! From traditional tapas like patatas bravas and tortilla española to international cuisine at places like Vaso de Oro or La Bombeta – your taste buds will do the tango!
But what really stood out to me was the community's commitment to supporting local businesses. With so many queer-owned shops, bars, and restaurants popping up around the city, you'll find plenty of opportunities to get involved and give back.
In fact, one of my favorite spots is the iconic El Raval neighborhood, where you can find everything from drag shows at La Trinca to community events at Casa Elizalde. This place is pulsing with energy and creativity!
As I explored Barcelona, I couldn't help but think about the power of community. From its inclusive Pride celebrations to its thriving queer scene, this city has got it down.
So, if you're looking for a destination that's all about passion, culture, and a good time – look no further than Barcelona! Trust me, you won't regret it!
