Hey there, fellow foodies! As a long-time resident of this amazing city, I'm thrilled to share my favorite spots for dining in Houston. From Tex-Mex classics to international cuisines, our vibrant city has something for every palate. And, as an added bonus, many of these eateries proudly serve the LGBTQ+ community!
**Montrose Magic**
In the heart of Montrose, you'll find a culinary melting pot. One of my top picks is **El Tiempo**, a beloved Tex-Mex institution that's been serving up mouthwatering fajitas and tacos since 1960! The colorful atmosphere, complete with mariachi music and piñatas, adds to the fiesta vibe. Be sure to try their famous "Taco Loco" – it's a game-changer!
Nearby, **Bistro Menil** offers an artistic take on contemporary cuisine. This cozy eatery is nestled in the heart of the Museum District, making it the perfect spot for a pre- or post-museum meal. Their seasonal menu changes frequently, but their commitment to using local, sustainable ingredients always impresses.
**East End Delights**
The East End is another hotspot for foodies! **Tacos A Go-Go** in EaDo serves up authentic, no-frills Mexican eats at an unbeatable price point. Try their famous "Taco de lengua" (that's tongue taco, for the uninitiated!) and don't forget to order a side of spicy salsa.
For a taste of international flair, head to **Fat Cat Cafe**, a quirky eatery serving up fusion cuisine with a focus on Asian flavors. Their menu changes seasonally, but their signature "K-Town Fried Chicken" and creative sandwiches always impress. Plus, the cozy atmosphere makes it the perfect spot for a date or brunch with friends.
**Heights Highlife**
In the Heights, **Cuchara**, a farm-to-table eatery, offers an ever-changing menu that highlights local produce and meats. Their "Farmers' Feast" tasting menu is a must-try for any adventurous foodie. And don't miss their weekend brunch service – it's a rainbow of flavors!
Last but not least, **The Breakfast Klub** serves up Southern-style comfort food with a side of sass. This popular spot is perfect for a lazy Sunday morning or a post-party fuel-up. Try their famous "Chicken and Waffles" (you won't regret it) and don't forget to order a side of spicy sausage.
In conclusion, dining in Houston is an adventure that's equal parts delicious and diverse! Whether you're in the mood for Tex-Mex, international cuisine, or good ol' comfort food, this city has something for everyone. So go ahead, get out there, and taste the rainbow – your taste buds will thank you!
