Hey there, fellow Pulse-ers! It's your boy Ryan Salazar here, and I'm stoked to share with you my fave neighborhood guide to Key West – a place that's pure magic!
As someone who's been lucky enough to call this island home for a bit, I've had the pleasure of exploring all its nooks and crannies. And trust me, there's so much more to Key West than just Duval Street (although, let's be real, that's some serious fun too). So, grab your sunscreen, don your comfiest flip flops, and get ready to dive into the best of the island's unique neighborhoods!
**Old Town**
You can't talk about Key West without mentioning Old Town. This historic area is like stepping back in time – cobblestone streets, charming architecture, and a sense of laid-back cool that's hard to find anywhere else. Take a stroll down Duval Street (yes, it's worth repeating), pop into the iconic Sloppy Joe's bar for a cold one, or grab a bite at Louie's Backyard Restaurant & Bar – a local favorite.
**Bahama Village**
Just north of Old Town lies Bahama Village, a vibrant neighborhood that's home to some of Key West's most eclectic shops and eateries. Be sure to check out the world-famous Calle 8 Food Market for an authentic Cuban dining experience. And if you're looking for a sweet treat, head to Azur Restaurant & Patio – their key lime pie is TO DIE FOR!
**Garden District**
Ah, the Garden District – this charming neighborhood is like a tropical oasis in the middle of the island! With its lush greenery, colorful flowers, and quaint B&Bs, it's the perfect spot to unwind after a day of soaking up the sun. Grab a coffee at The Coffee Pot II and take a seat on their beautiful patio. You might even spot some roosters strutting their stuff – yes, really!
**West Martello Gardens**
Speaking of gardens, West Martello Gardens is an absolute must-see! This stunning botanical garden is home to over 10 acres of gorgeous flora and fauna, including a beautiful lighthouse and the famous Harry S. Truman Little White House – now that's what I call a historical gem! Take your time strolling through the gardens, and don't forget to snap some pics for Instagram – it's a photographer's dream come true!
**Downtown Key West**
Last but certainly not least, we have Downtown Key West – the heartbeat of the island. This bustling area is where you'll find many of Key West's iconic landmarks, like the Ernest Hemingway Home and Museum (yes, that Hemingway – the one who wrote The Old Man and the Sea!). You can also grab a bite at one of the many restaurants, bars, or cafes along Greene Street. And if you're feeling adventurous, take a sunset sail on the Schooner Jolly Rover – it's an unforgettable experience!
So there you have it, folks – my ultimate guide to Key West's neighborhoods! Whether you're looking for history, culture, food, or just a good ol' fashioned party, this island has got it all. And remember, no matter where you go in Key West, the vibes are always chill and the people are always friendly. See you on the flip side, Pulse-ers!
