Oh, Mykonos! You have stolen my heart with your dazzling white buildings, turquoise waters, and vibrant LGBTQ+ community. As I walk through the narrow streets of Little Venice, the scent of freshly squeezed lemonade and the sound of pulsating music fill the air. It's a sensory overload in the best possible way!
My first trip to Mykonos was for Pride, and let me tell you – it was LOVE at first sight! The island comes alive with colorful floats, dancing queens, and an infectious energy that permeates every corner. I've found myself lost in the maze of alleys, stumbling upon impromptu dance parties and making new friends along the way.
One of my favorite spots is Scorpios Beach Club, where the sun-kissed crowd sips on cocktails and gets their groove on to the latest house beats. The atmosphere is electric – it's not uncommon to see a group of revelers doing shots and dancing on tables (safely, of course!) as the sun dips into the Aegean Sea.
But Mykonos isn't just about the nightlife; it's also steeped in rich history and culture. Take a stroll through the iconic Paraga Beach, where you'll discover ancient ruins and breathtaking views of the surrounding waters. And don't miss the famous windmills, which have been spinning tales for centuries!
Reportedly, Mykonos has one of the highest concentrations of LGBTQ+ individuals in Greece – and it shows! The island's welcoming attitude and open-minded community make it a haven for those seeking acceptance and self-expression. You'll find everything from bear-friendly bars to drag queen events, all wrapped up in a rainbow-colored bow.
In fact, Mykonos has been at the forefront of LGBTQ+ rights in Greece. Allegedly, it was one of the first cities to host an official Pride march in the 1990s – paving the way for future generations of queer Greeks and international visitors alike!
Now, I know what you're thinking: "But Josh, Mykonos can get pretty pricey!" And yes, it's true – the island has a reputation for being on the higher end of the spectrum. However, with some insider knowledge and planning, you can experience the best of Mykonos without breaking the bank! Consider visiting during the shoulder season (April-May or September-October), when prices are generally lower and the crowds are smaller.
So, if you're ready to soak up the sun, dance the night away, and find your tribe in a vibrant LGBTQ+ community – look no further than Mykonos! Trust me when I say that this enchanting Greek island has stolen my heart, and it will do the same for you. Come for Pride, stay for the people, and leave with memories that will last a lifetime.
**Get ready to fall head over heels in love with Mykonos – the ultimate LGBTQ+ destination!**
