Hey there, fellow Philadelphians! I'm thrilled to share my passion for this incredible city with you. As a proud resident of Philadelphia, I've had the privilege of watching our community grow and thrive in recent years. In this article, I'll give you the inside scoop on what makes Philly an amazing place for LGBTQ+ business and culture.
First off, let's talk about the heart of our city: Center City. This is where the magic happens! From iconic spots like the Liberty Bell to trendy hotspots along South Street, there's always something new to discover. Did you know that Philly has more LGBTQ+-owned businesses per capita than any other major US city? Yep, we're talkin' 1 in 5 businesses are owned by us fabulous folk!
One of my personal faves is the iconic **El Vez** on South Street. This vibrant cantina is a staple for queer folks and allies alike. Their famous brunches are a must-try (and don't even get me started on their margaritas). Plus, they're always supporting local LGBTQ+ organizations and events – we love that!
But Philly's got more than just bars and restaurants going on. We've got a thriving arts scene! The **InLiquid** art gallery in Northern Liberties is a must-visit for any art lover. They feature works by local and international artists, often with an LGBTQ+ focus. And let me tell you, their exhibitions are always thought-provoking and visually stunning!
Of course, no discussion of Philly would be complete without mentioning our beloved **Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (PAFA)**. This incredible institution has been a hub for artistic expression since 1805! Did you know that PAFA has an entire wing dedicated to LGBTQ+ art? It's a must-see for anyone interested in queer culture and art.
Now, I know what you're thinking: "What about the nightlife?" Well, friend, Philly's got you covered there too! **The Pharmacy** on North 13th Street is a fan favorite among locals and visitors alike. This beloved dive bar has been serving up stiff drinks and good vibes since 2003!
And don't even get me started on our amazing LGBTQ+ organizations and events! The **Philadelphia Pride** parade and festival are annual highlights, drawing thousands of spectators from across the country. Plus, there's always something new popping up – like last year's **Pride in the Park** concert series, which featured queer performers and DJs from around the world!
In conclusion, Philly is an amazing city for LGBTQ+ business and culture. We've got a thriving arts scene, incredible local businesses, and events that bring our community together. Whether you're looking to explore new hotspots or connect with like-minded folks, this city has something for everyone.
So come on down, friends! Let's celebrate the best of Philly – queer style!
