From authentic Mexican cuisine in the Mission to artisanal ice cream in the Haight, every bite is a celebration of San Francisco's culinary diversity. Of course, no discussion of San Francisco's LGBTQ+ culture would be complete without mentioning our beloved Pride parade. As one of the largest and most iconic Pride celebrations in the world, it's an event that draws millions to the city each June. And while some might say it's just a party, I know better – it's a powerful reminder of the progress we've made, and the work still ahead. As I look out at the San Francisco skyline, I'm reminded of the countless individuals who have contributed to this local crowd over the years. From Harvey Milk to Sylvia Rivera, from the Compton's Cafeteria riots to the Castro Country Club, every story is a testament to our resilience and determination. San Francisco may be a small city, but its impact on the LGBTQ+ world is anything but small. It's a place where we can be ourselves, without apology or pretension.
