From the cozy confines of JR.'s Bar & Grill (reportedly the oldest continuously operating gay bar in DC) to the high-energy dance parties at The Black Cat, there's always something going on. And let's not forget about the people – oh, the people! I've had the privilege of meeting some truly remarkable individuals who call DC home. From grassroots activists fighting for equality and justice to local business owners paving the way for a more inclusive economy, every single one is making a difference in their own unique way. Take, for example, the remarkable work being done by the DC Center for the LGBTQ+ Community (DC Center). This incredible organization provides vital support services, programs, and advocacy for our community – everything from mental health counseling to employment resources. Of course, no discussion of DC's LGBTQ+ scene would be complete without mentioning the role that politics plays in shaping our community.
