Get ready, Wilton Manors! The wait is finally over – our beloved LGBTQ+ community's favorite festival is back, and it's bigger and better than ever! As we approach the 23rd anniversary of this iconic celebration, I'm thrilled to share the latest updates on what's in store for us.
Last year's Pride was a massive success, drawing in crowds from all over South Florida. This year, organizers have promised an even more spectacular experience, with an impressive lineup of events and activities that cater to our community's diverse interests. From drag shows to live music performances, there's something for everyone!
One of the most anticipated events is the Pride Parade, which will take place on April 15th at 6:00 PM. Expect to see vibrant floats, colorful costumes, and a sea of rainbow flags waving in the air as we celebrate our community's resilience and spirit. The parade route will run from Andrews Gardens to the Wilton Manors City Hall, with plenty of viewing spots along the way.
New this year is the "Pride on the Park" block party, happening on April 14th at 4:00 PM in Memorial Park. This free event promises a lively atmosphere, complete with food trucks, live DJs, and interactive games for all ages. We'll also have an array of local vendors showcasing their wares, from artisanal jewelry to handmade crafts.
As we gear up for Pride, it's essential to acknowledge the ongoing work being done by our community leaders and allies to create a safer, more inclusive environment for everyone. Wilton Manors has long been a beacon of acceptance, and I'm proud to call this city my home.
This year, we'll also be honoring some remarkable individuals who've made significant contributions to our community. The Pride Awards ceremony will take place on April 13th at the Commission Chambers, recognizing outstanding achievements in areas such as activism, artistry, and advocacy.
Of course, no Wilton Manors Pride would be complete without an abundance of delicious food and drink options! Our annual Food & Drink Crawl returns on April 16th, featuring a variety of local eateries and bars offering special Pride-themed menus. From sweet treats to savory delights, there's something for every palate.
In the days leading up to Pride, I encourage you all to share your own stories, memories, and hopes for our community with us. We'll be featuring guest posts on The Pink Pulse, highlighting the incredible work being done by local organizations and individuals who are making a difference in our world.
As we prepare to celebrate our 23rd Wilton Manors Pride, I want to leave you with a message of hope and unity. In these uncertain times, it's more essential than ever that we come together as one community, supporting each other and embracing our differences.
So mark your calendars, get ready to party, and let's make this year's Pride one for the books!
