Hotel V Frederiksplein

The room itself was hot. First night we arrived there was no fan and when asked for a fan, they had none left to give. The room had air con but was set at a default temperature which meant we couldn’t change it. This was during the summer so heat was 28-30 degrees. Service was amazing. Receptionist was alert and quite well having 24/7 access. Location was close to trams and the metro so getting around the city was a breeze.

I've seen the property reply to most comments slightly defensively so this is more for other travellers looking to book this property. The room is a last resort type of booking.. only if you can't find anything else. Overpriced even by Amsterdam standards for the experience. Don't be fooled by the cool lobby pictures or the hip millennial vibe, in the end lots of issues seem to stem from a corporation cutting costs and corners wherever possible. 1) Accessibility Since it's in an old building or whatever, the lift doesn't access all floors- those with bigger luggages will have to drag them up the steep stairs to the top floor if they were unfortunate enough to get assigned there. I guess it's our fault for not reading everything buried on Booking.com so watch out for that. 2) Limited facilities No airconditioning or fridges etc for those travelling in the summer. You can turn on the single fan provided and open the windows- but then light sleepers will have to contend with tram noises right outside every night and morning. Property is also slightly run down for its price- peeling paints, insufficient lighting. We found items left in the safe by the previous guest which seems concerning to how checks are being done between guests. If I had to mention some upsides- staff were lovely (would never fault employees for corporate decisions), location is great, I liked the snack they provided.

Not worth what I paid for it. If paying $400+ euros a night, I'm expecting something "next level". Not even close. The letdown started with having to climb 3 steep flights of stairs with my luggage to get to my room (can't put in an elevator? How about a bellhop then?), and then having to walk outside (out on the sidewalk) to get to the lobby and breakfast area. Room ("loft"?) was also not up to snuff - towels that had seen better days, toilet button that "stuck" and was ready to fall off the wall, a bed with strange lumps (rolls?) in the mattress, lighting that was inadequate, climate control that was a mystery to figure out. How about just a box of tissue in the bathroom? (two star hotels have that!). And while the location is decent in terms of area amenities and restaurants and such, be prepared to listen to trams (and their bells!) until after midnight and then starting again before 6am in the morning.

We stayed last month for our anniversary and was a really pleasant experience, the place was marvellous, and the breakfast was very good and had glutenfree options. The rooms were super cozy and quiet. We slept great, loved the pillows, would appreciate of you share the model or brand, we need some for home lol. Would definitely go back next time we visit Amsterdam.

I had an amazing experience here. The hotel was very clean and well organized, and its location in the city center is excellent. The breakfast was wonderful and exceeded expectations. A staff member named Perez was especially welcoming, friendly, and professional, which made the stay even more enjoyable. I highly recommend this hotel, and on my next visit to Amsterdam I won’t even need to look for another place — I’ll come straight back here. In short: highly recommended
