While in Atlanta for a book festival, I knew I had to make a stop at Village Books after discovering them on social media. Being a New Yorker and a huge supporter of Black-owned businesses, visiting was a must. From the moment I walked in, I was welcomed with genuine hospitality. The bookseller immediately offered assistance and continued engaging with me throughout my visit and checkout, which made the experience feel personal and inviting. Beyond their impressive selection of books, I loved browsing the other items throughout the store: apparel, tote bags, bookmarks, pens, candles, and more. There were so many great titles to choose from that I had to keep reminding myself of my budget… and still somehow left with five books! 😂 And can we talk about the playlist? The music was definitely setting the vibe. I caught myself bopping along while browsing the shelves, which made the experience even more enjoyable. What I appreciated most was the atmosphere. Village Books feels like a space created by people who genuinely love books, culture, and community. As if I needed another reason to support them, I was excited to learn they also have an online store, making it easy to shop even when I’m back home. Village Books, thank you for such a wonderful experience. Between the books, the welcoming service, and the vibes, you made this book lover feel right at home. I can’t wait to visit again!
I finally had the opportunity to visit Village Books! I was so excited to get there and was not disappointed. The bookstore has a wide array of books available in a multitude of genres. I found a two book boxed set of Maus! I had a great conversation with the staff member about life and the Maus series. I always speak with the staff because in most of the places I’ve visited- they are very knowledgeable. He was also very helpful and friendly. I am also in awe of the curated book recommendations. The space is very open and has a lovely collection of book related items such as clothing, bookmarks, stickers, and other cool items. I need to visit again to peruse the clothing collection! There is a reading corner as well. If you’re in Atlanta- be sure to include this bookstore in your visits! You will not be disappointed.
Gorgeous bookstore with an amazing staff and selection. They were doing an amazing book event with a children’s book to help kids process trauma and gentle parenting. Highly recommend! Come support them!
I was in town for a couple of days and came across this bookstore on Tik tok. I loved everything about it: the customer service, product selection, organization etc. I would absolutely recommend this store to anyone looking for a nice independently owned bookstore in ATL
