Alienated Majesty Books

Alienated Majesty Books is the kind of independent bookstore that reminds you just how exciting and vast the world of literature truly is and it has quickly become one of my favorite spots in all of Austin. The curation is absolutely outstanding with a remarkable focus on small press fiction, poetry, works in translation, comics and titles you simply cannot find anywhere else in the city. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about books and their recommendations are always spot on whether you know exactly what you are looking for or have no idea where to start. The cozy atmosphere with comfortable seating and regular community events makes it feel like so much more than just a bookstore and more like a genuine literary home. It is no surprise the Austin Chronicle named them a critics pick for Best Obscure Literature Collection and I cannot recommend this place highly enough to any serious book lover.

This is the best bookstore I have been to for finding new books that are fairly rare to find. Fernando helped me and recommended me some books that I would have never found on my own or online. Love that they have a wide selection of authors from all over the world that you don’t typically see.

I travel for work and have been to a lot of bookstores all over the country. This one is by far the coolest. My favorite bookstore and I love coming to Austin knowing I get to stop in. Truly feels like one of those places that just aren’t around anymore. Unique, inspiring, and the staff is absolutely wonderful. Helpful, energetic, and excited about reading. I love it here.

This place is the perfect place for readers! It has an array of books from textbooks to fiction to poetry and novels. This is perfect for language learners that want to read in Spanish, Chinese, French, Japanese, and many others. Rare finds are abundant; that can be found with hours of curiosity. I could have blown my whole check at this place! The books are reasonably priced.

Great bookstore with many international authors not typically found in your larger bookstores. Wide variety and alternating titles every month I believe. Would definitely recommend if you want to look for new titles not on a list or social media.
