I criticize the fact that, due to the influence of your association and your campaigns, performances by internationally renowned Jamaican reggae artists in Germany have been partially prevented or canceled. In my view, the cultural context of the lyrics and their backgrounds is often lacking. Many reggae and dancehall artists come from completely different social backgrounds than those in Europe. Some lyrics are culturally, religiously, or socially influenced and, in my opinion, should be considered with nuance instead of being categorically interpreted as hate speech. I find it problematic when events or artists are subjected to public pressure without genuine dialogue. This makes many music fans feel patronized and culturally disregarded. I would like your organization to focus more on discussion and contextualization rather than performance bans or public pressure. I welcome your response to this criticism.
