Pride in the Heart of Ohio: Columbus Celebrates!

By Josh Menghi I've had the pleasure of calling Columbus home for a while now, and let me tell you – this city knows how to throw a party! Specifically, Pride parties. Every June, the streets of downtown Columbus transform into a kaleidoscope of color, music, and love. As someone who's been part of the community here for a while, I can confidently say that our Columbus Pride celebration is one of the best in the Midwest. So, what makes our Pride celebration so special? For starters, it's all about inclusivity. From the moment you step foot into the festival grounds, you're met with a sense of acceptance and belonging. Whether you're a seasoned vet or a newcomer to the community, there's something for everyone at Columbus Pride. The festivities kick off on Friday evening with the annual Pride Parade. This is where the magic happens – literally! The streets are filled with floats, marching bands, and our very own LGBTQ+ superheroes (yes, I said it!). As you wind your way through the parade route, you'll be treated to an array of performances, from drag shows to live music. But the party doesn't stop there! On Saturday, the real action begins. The festival grounds at Goodale Park are transformed into a colorful wonderland, complete with over 100 vendors selling everything from artisanal jewelry to delicious eats. You can grab a bite to eat at one of our many food trucks or indulge in some retail therapy at the marketplace. Of course, no Pride celebration would be complete without music! We've got a stellar lineup of performers this year, including pop sensations and local favorites. The energy is always electric, and you'll find yourself dancing along with strangers-turned-friends in no time. But what really sets Columbus Pride apart is its commitment to giving back. Throughout the weekend, attendees can participate in various fundraisers and awareness campaigns supporting local organizations that benefit our community. It's a powerful reminder of why we're all here – for love, acceptance, and equality. As someone who's been part of this vibrant community for years, I can attest to the fact that Columbus Pride is truly a celebration of us. We're not just talking about the LGBTQ+ community; we're talking about everyone – allies, friends, and family included! It's an opportunity to come together, share in our collective joy, and make memories that will last long after the confetti has been swept away. So, what are you waiting for?
