Hey there, Pink Pulse fam! I'm thrilled to share my love for Baltimore, a city that's become a second home to me. As an LGBTQ+ enthusiast, I've found that Charm City has a unique energy that's all its own – and I'm here to spill the tea on where to find it!
First off, let's talk about Fells Point. This historic waterfront neighborhood is a hotspot for nightlife, with bars like The Horse You Came In On Saloon (reportedly one of the oldest continuously operating bars in the country!) and Alex's Bar serving up stiff drinks and even stiffer vibes. Trust me when I say that after a few rounds at these joints, you'll be dancing the night away on Broadway or singing your heart out at the piano bar!
Of course, no trip to Fells Point would be complete without a visit to Thames Street Oyster House. This seafood haven has been serving up fresh catches and craft beers since 1992 – and I've found that their Sunday brunch is the perfect spot to catch up with friends or make some new ones! Don't forget to order the famous "Oysters Rockefeller" (reportedly the best in the city, allegedly) for a taste sensation like no other!
Now, if you're looking for something a little more low-key, I highly recommend exploring the Inner Harbor. Take a stroll along the waterfront, grab a coffee or gelato at one of the many cafes, and enjoy the stunning views of the Baltimore skyline. And when the sun sets, head to the Pride Flag Plaza (located just north of the harbor) for a moment of quiet contemplation amidst the vibrant city lights.
As we dive into the world of LGBTQ+ culture, I must give a shoutout to our beloved Station North Arts District! This artsy hub is home to some of Baltimore's most innovative and inclusive spaces, including the iconic Station North Tool Library (reportedly one of the largest tool libraries in the country!) and the stunning Franki Dance Studio. Take a class with Franki, and you'll be dancing like nobody's watching (or at least, that's what I did)!
Lastly, let's not forget about the Baltimore Pride Festival! This annual celebration is a must-attend for anyone who loves a good party – and trust me when I say that our 2022 festival was one for the books! From live music performances to vendor booths selling everything from rainbow-colored merchandise to delicious eats, there's something for everyone at this joyous event.
In conclusion, Baltimore is more than just a city – it's a community that celebrates life in all its vibrant colors! Whether you're a local or just visiting, I hope my recommendations have given you a taste of the Pride that fills these streets. Come back soon, and let's party like it's 1999!
Happy pride-ing, Pink Pulse fam!
