It's not uncommon to spot fashionistas flaunting their personal flair on the sidewalks of SoHo, Greenwich Village, or even in Hell's Kitchen. We're talking statement pieces, folks! One of my favorite haunts is the iconic Macy's Herald Square, where I can get lost in the dizzying array of designer duds, trendy accessories, and affordable finds. The sheer scale of this legendary department store is awe-inspiring – with over 11 floors of shopping heaven! And did you know that the original Macy's was founded by Rowland Hussey Macy in 1858? Talk about a piece of American history! Of course, no fashion journey in NYC would be complete without venturing into the realm of underground boutiques. I'm thinking boutiques like Opening Ceremony, Creatures of Comfort, or even the humble but oh-so-cool Tokio7. These hidden gems offer an escape from the mainstream, presenting a curated selection of boundary-pushing designers and up-and-coming talent. I'm talking about the iconic Brooklyn Flea, the one and only Artichoke Basille's Pizza pop-up, or even the more recent addition, Smorgasburg.
