Vancouver's LGBTQ+ community is on fire this summer, and I'm thrilled to share the excitement with you! As someone who's spent countless nights dancing under the stars at Main Street's iconic Cobalt or sipping cocktails at Celebrities' patio bar, I've got the scoop on what's happening in Vancouver right now.
First off, let's talk about Pride. This year's celebration was bigger and more fabulous than ever! With over 600,000 attendees, it was clear that Vancouver's community is stronger than ever. We danced down Granville Street with our flags waving high, surrounded by allies and friends who came out to show their support. The energy was electric, and I'm still riding the wave of joy from that unforgettable day.
But Pride isn't just about one day; it's a movement that happens all year round in Vancouver. And, trust me, there's plenty to look forward to! One of my favorite spots for a night out is Guilt & Co., which hosts an amazing lineup of drag shows and cabarets throughout the summer. The atmosphere is always lively, with a mix of newcomers and regulars coming together to celebrate our shared love of good music, great company, and a healthy dose of sass.
If you're looking for something new and exciting, I highly recommend checking out The Pint Public House & Taproom in Gastown. This popular spot has just launched its own LGBTQ+ trivia night, featuring prizes and giveaways that'll keep you coming back for more. Plus, their craft beer selection is top-notch!
Of course, no trip to Vancouver would be complete without a visit to the iconic Stanley Park. Not only does it offer breathtaking views of the city skyline, but it's also home to the Vancouver Pride Society's annual Picnic in the Park. This beloved event brings together people from all walks of life for an afternoon of food, music, and fun in the sun.
But what really gets my heart racing is when our community comes together to support local businesses that give back to our queer community. Case in point: The Fountainhead Pub, which has been a staple of Vancouver's LGBTQ+ scene for over two decades. Not only do they host regular drag shows and karaoke nights, but they also donate a portion of their proceeds from Pride month to local organizations that support marginalized youth.
As we head into the dog days of summer, I'm reminded that our community is full of heart, humor, and a whole lot of love. Whether you're looking for a night out on Main Street or a relaxing afternoon in Stanley Park, Vancouver has something for everyone. So come one, come all – let's celebrate our queerness and make this summer one to remember!
Stay fabulous, Vancouver!
